Hammer Time: Starts September 2nd
The Tailgate Toolkit team provides a anonymous safe, supportive, and stigma-free space where workers can connect with others who understand the unique challenges, culture, and realities of the construction industry. Hammer Time will be facilitated via Zoom on Wednesday 7 – 8pm by the Tailgate Toolkit coordinator team, bringing together a combination of shared experience and lived experience from across British Columbia’s construction community. Each week there will be a new topic that will guide the conversation. Topics may be adjusted
What is Hammer Time?
It is a virtual peer support program designed specifically for individuals working in the construction industry. Through Hammer Time, the Tailgate Toolkit team provides a safe, supportive, and stigma-free space where workers can connect with others who understand the unique challenges, culture, and realities of the construction industry.
What to Expect from the Sessions?
1. A non-judgmental and anonymous environment.
2. Weekly drop-in virtual peer support sessions, with a new topics every week.
3. Collaboration between the Tailgate Coordinators to ensure consistent program delivery.
4. Peer-based engagement and supportive discussion.
5. Facilitated by individuals with relevant or lived experience.
The Purpose
The program is intended to:
- Support workers through peer connection and facilitated discussion
- Reduce stigma surrounding substance use, mental health, and seeking support
- Encourage psychologically safe conversations within the construction community
- Provide accessible, low-barrier support for workers at any stage of their journey
- Foster trust, empathy, connection, and community among participants
